Keep your suction cups soft, sealing and gripping. This 3 oz (85 g) tube of Super Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease with Syncolon (PTFE) is what I use to condition the rubber on my cups and keep the pumps sliding smooth. Heavy-duty, dielectric, NSF H1 food grade, NLGI Grade 2, clean, and made in the USA.
Why your cups need it
Heat is the enemy of rubber. Hot panels, direct sun and summer work dry suction cup rubber out a lot faster than normal. Dry rubber gets stiff, cracks, and loses its grip right when you need it most. A light coat of Super Lube moisturizes and restores the rubber so it stays soft and keeps sealing, even in high-heat environments.
What it's good for
-
Suction cup rubber: conditions and restores the cup so it doesn't dry out, harden or crack from heat.
-
Pump plunger O-rings: on vacuum and pump-style cups (like EZvac), a lubricated O-ring lets the plunger slide smoothly so the pump keeps working properly.
-
Works on any rubber cup and O-ring: not just The Grip and EZvac. Use it on any brand of rubber suction cup you own.
-
Rubber seals and gaskets: helps protect them from drying out and cracking.
-
Moving parts on your gear: a dab on Strong Arm joints, claws, clamps and the umbrella pivot keeps everything moving smooth.
How to use it
- Wipe the cup clean.
- Apply a thin film of grease.
- Work it into the rubber with your fingers.
- Wipe off the excess.
Important: wipe any excess off the cup's sealing face before you stick it to paint or glass.
Storage tip: store your cups with a light coat on them to keep the rubber from drying out between jobs.
A little goes a very long way. One tube will last you for many, many applications.
